St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia celebrated the feast of Assumption of Our Lady and India's 73rd Independence Day at the church grounds after the morning mass. The programme was conducted by members of the ICYM unit.

At 6.30am Holy mass was celebrated by Parish Priest Fr. James Dsouza. The co-celebrants were Fr.Joswin Dsouza Asst P.P and Fr. William Barrocas.

Meaningful Homily was preached by Fr. Joswin Dsouza about the virtues of mother Mary, her faith, our duty and rights towards our nation. Liturgy was conducted by ICYM members.

Flag hoisting ceremony was held after the mass.The Chief guest for the ceremony was Dr. Vasanth Kumar Shetty , Administrator of Saanidhya residential school and training centre for the mentally challenged, Mangaluru. After hoisting the flag addressing the gathering, he said how he has been closer to our church since his childhood days. He appreciated mother Mary , the mission of the catholics and the selfless service they render to the society . He also highlighted about our country and the tradition of India and said we are all one. National anthem and Patriotic song was sung by the ICYM members.

Fr. James Dsouza PP, Fr.Joswin Dsouza Asst PP, Fr Arun Lobo resident priest, Parish council vice president Anil Lobo and secretary Lizzy Pinto were also present.
